Emergency Shelter

Place of Grace has become a lifeline for individuals in Richmond County facing addiction, housing instability, and participation in the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) program. By offering a comprehensive network of emergency shelter and supportive services, we not only provide a place of refuge, but also the tools and resources needed to transition into stable, independent living. Our integrated approach—combining emergency housing, recovery programs, and vocational training—effectively addresses the root causes of homelessness, helping participants regain self-sufficiency and stay off the streets.

Impact on the Community: Our Emergency Shelter has had a profound impact on our community:

  • Serving Those in Need: Over 1,200 overnight stays were logged in our emergency shelter last season and over forty people received aid from our support services.
  • Promoting Independence: By coupling shelter services with Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Programs (SAIOP), Certified Peer Support Services (CPPS) and Richmond Community College (RCC) vocational programs, we empower participants to rebuild their lives.
  • Community Health and Safety: Our shelter reduces homelessness and addiction in public spaces and connects individuals to health and human services through our community affiliates, including:
    • Sandhills Behavioral Care: Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT), Tailored Care Management (TCM) and Primary Care Physicians (PCP)
    • Daymark Recovery Services: Detox and Assessment/Referral, SAIOP, LCAS, CADC
    • Assurance Life Learning Center: CPPS, SAIOP
    • Goshen Medical: Primary Care Physicians

These outcomes would not be possible without our emergency shelter, which fills a critical gap in local resources.
